Petal Power helps the Birches to ChangeIt Awards Final

One of our Lancashire homes was recently shortlisted for the final of this years ChangeIt Awards in London, after being selected from hundreds of applicants as one of the official 9 finalists. The Awards recognise and support young people in the UK who want to change the world around them and offer a fantastic example of how young people in care can participate and make a positive contribution.

The young people and staff have established a community based project in Poulton, which involves the local library, church, old people's home and youth club and will include a 140 mile sponsored, coast to coast, bike ride to raise money for the campaign.

The young people's campaign idea impressed the judges and, as competing finalists, young people from the home will get to take part in an Innovation training workshop. They will also be given the opportunity to deliver a Dragon’s Den pitch to the panel of judges and attend the award ceremony at the Ministry of Sound in London on 29 April where they will be presented with certificates and prizes.
