Following northerncare’s sponsorship of the Fylde-based soccer school run by Bolton Wanderers player, Gavin McCann, ex-Sheffield Wednesday and Blackpool FC player, John Hills and ex-Blackpool and Everton FC player, Jamie Milligan, young people from our children’s homes have been given the opportunity to receive expert coaching from the three football stars. 22 young people from across the country will begin their FA Level 1 coaching course at the indoor sports centre at Stanley Park, Blackpool.
Paddy aged 15 said, “I can’t wait. We don’t get chances like this often. It was great meeting the footballers. Hopefully, it’ll be a good starting point for a career in coaching. I love football.”
All the youngsters are hoping to gain top marks in the course which starts in January. Jamie Milligan is also looking forward to coaching them after meeting them all last week. He said the course will be, “..half classroom based and half practical. They’ll be shown how to work with and how to coach children. They’ll take it in turns coaching a group. It’ll be a great day. At the end of it they’ll be qualified to come and help run our soccer school.”
