Our philosophy in the delivery of care and education is based upon the belief that looked after children deserve a fresh start where they can move forward to build positive futures and have the same life opportunities as their peers in the community.

In looking after children, our care is based on and around the individual needs of the child, taking into account the child/family/community relationships, the need for children to be protected and acknowledging that children grow into adults.

This includes working with children and young people in ways that promote their rights and responsibilities, supporting children and young people to express their views and preferences about their health and well-being, and contributing to the protection of children and young people, whilst respecting their diversity, differences, preferences and choice. In addition, we work with children and young people to identify goals and boundaries for acceptable behaviour, support children and young people to manage challenging behaviour and enable children and young people to recognise and understand their behaviour and its consequences.
